"Not a Happy Cruiser" by
Arba B. from Taylorsville, NC Sailing date: Aug 2008Pros: The Shore Excursions Cons: The Food, beds, and waiters This was our 10th cruise of which 5 were on Celebrity Ships. We had one other bad experience but decided we would try again. The food quality has gone downhill. Had beef three nights and couldn't cut it with a steak knife - even fillet mignon. The entree selections were few, as well as their desserts. In the end we were eating hamburgers & hot dogs for dinner. We did have one good dinner on the entire cruise. The ship is in need of refurbishing. One of our beds was bent and slanted to one side. We asked the stateroom attendant twice about it and he said he would get it repaired. Was still the same way when we disembarked. Seemed as though their entertainment was the exact same shows we had previously seen on another Celebrity ship. It appeared all they were interested in was selling their merchandise. Frankly I don't go on cruises to purchase cruiseline merchandise. Children were allowed to run everywhere and believe me, there were a lot of them. This is the first cruise we have gone on where children were just turned loose to do as they please. If I wanted a crowd of children I would have gone on a Disney Cruise. Do not plan to cruise again for quite some time and when I do it will be with another line. To sum it up, this was a wasted trip. Ship QualityEntire ship needs refurbishing. Dining/FoodWorst food we have had on a Celebrity cruise ship. Quality was terrible. Stateroom QualityBroken bed which was never repaired. Ship Staff QualityWe didn't have anyone who went "above and beyond" Had to ask for ice every day as well as anything else we received. Entertainment & ActivitiesSame old shows that we've seen several times.

Definately not the best cruise. by
Deborah W. from Oak Ridge, TN Sailing date: Mar 2008Pros: ports of call Cons: food, service, and entertainment We had cruised with the Infinity before. Our first cruise with Infinity was when it went through the Panama Canal for the second time. The experience then was wonderful. This time the experience was the complete opposite. The service, food, and entertainment were second rate. We can't decide if it was because it was a "relocation" cruise and we were "just along for the ride" or if the changes have been caused by the downturn of the world economy. Ship QualityWe have always liked the layout of Celebrity's larger ships like the Infinity. However, this trip there were several problems that needed addressing. The server for the on board account system in the cabins did not work after the first day and no one bothered to tell the passengers until the last couple of days on board. The main bank of elevators did not work properly and cause safety issue. Dining/FoodWith the exception of the Speciality Resturant, the quality of the food was ok to poor. The meat was poorly cooked, and even the choice cuts were of poor quality. The desserts were nothing to get excited about either. Our waiter and assistant waiter did not work well together. I do have to say the waiter went the extra mile to get us a plate of bleu cheese and escargo every night. The Speciality Restaurant was WONDERFUL, if you have never experienced a five star restaurant you have to try the speciality restaurant on your next cruise. All of the staff, from the maitre to the wait staff and the kitchen, were outstanding. The ambiance made you want to stay for hours and the quality of the food preparation and presentation was exceptional. Stateroom QualityOur steward was the best. He double checked everything and if he had questions about the laundry or the room he did not hesitate to ask. He was one of the best stewards we have ever had. Ship Staff QualityThe staff was friendly and seemed to be willing to help. They would take your complaint or whatever with a smile but seldom was anything ever done about the problem. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe entertainment was the pits. The shows were the same ones we had seen on other cruises and the Celebrity singer and dances were not top notch. The guest entertainers were not the best. Activities on board were average. Several people on board had taken the cruise because we were crossing the equador. There wasn't even an announcement over the PA system that we were crossing the equador and the 'crossing the equador initiation wasn't until the afternoon after the crossing. 8 out of 10 people found this review helpful.

  Classy Cruise by
A Traveler from Los Angeles, CA Sailing date: Aug 2008Pros: The atmosphere was sophisticated, professional, and polished. Pasteries were delicious! Cons: Would have enjoyed more onboard activities where younger as well as older adults would feel comfortable to partake in. The staff on the Celebrity Infinity were very professional and pleasant. It didn't matter to what capacity their position was on the ship, almost everyone was warm and genuine. The common areas on the ship were well maintained. Things were always being cleaned, arranged, polished, and kept up. The stateroom as well was nicely furnished and comfortable. The only uncharacteristic flaw that we experienced was the treatment in the gift shop on the last shopping day. The sales girl did not refold the shirts that I bought as souvenirs and instead just bunched each shirt up in her hand after scanning and shoved them into my purchase bag. If I handed them to her folded, I expected to have them placed in my bag in the same, if not better, condition. Ship Quality

Ketchikan, AlaskaEnjoyed the "Duck Tour". It was long enough to see the highlights but got back in time for my husband and I to return to some of the sights that interested us from the tour.
Sitka, Alaska
Victoria, British ColumbiaIt looks like an amazingly beautiful city but unfortunately we arrived in the evening and it soon got dark so we were not able to fully appreciate all the sights. It was a short stop and mostly in the dark.

  Great Cruisef by
Ken R from Pampa, Sailing date: Jun 2008Pros: Alaska was awesome.. Cons: Our inside cabin had water or steam pipes behind the wall - very noisy . Don't want inside cabin again. The ports were great. Victoria was such a short visit. Mostly dark while we were there. I think times were not well thought out. Ship & personnel were excellent. Love Celebrity Cruise Line. So clean & maintained. |
