There was a problem at first with the reservation I brought my younger sister age 8 and my brother 10 and they wanted to ... charge me extra for both of them when we had a double occupancy room, i was also made to understand that children under 12 was not charged and it was very difficult dealing with the front desk staff about this matter I had to involve orbitz and this took a lot of frustrating time. however after that was resolve the children had a wonderful time, they have been talking about it every day, they loved the festival and the caribbean night. I think the beach was dirty so i had to do the pool, the food was not very tasty but was a lot of choices, the staff was very friendly at the bar and restaurants. They did not have room service from the buffet and that was lousy. Overall the time was well spent I would rate a 3.5/5

I went on vacation with 2 friends and we had the best time!! The resort is gorgeous, the rooms are small but adequate, staff ... was extremely friendly and accomodating, entertainment and food were top notch. The buffet had different food every night, all piping hot, and lots of choices. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment, especially the reggae concert on the beach and the disco was lots of fun! The town was within walking distance and had lots of interesting shops.

OMG.....This resort is magnificent...I loved everything...The staff were super friendly and I met so many wonderful ... people....I did not have to change money to Jamaican currency... Everything was cheaper in US dollars... The food was excellent... There were so many choices.. The jerk chicken at the grill is a must..Always go early to make reservations for the resturants... I went to La Diva, an Italian restaurant...Delicious... Your tour rep calls you early in the morning to inform you of the different adventures..Definitely try the Dunns River Falls...Lots of fun and it is cheap.. The Dolphin Cove is a bit pricey though.. They have a message board which informs you of the different activities scheduled for the day... for the party people like myself...U have a disco which lasts till two in the morning... The disco is much more fun after a few drinks... Sports activities are cool... There is a sport activity for everyone... I found the spa to be a bit too expensive...I did not try it... Overall I had a great time..And I am going again soon...

The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and courteous. One exception was we had a problem with ... the phone in the room and it took us four times to report it before it was taken care off. The location was perfect because it was at least five minutes from the famous Dunn's Rivers Falls. Overall, I would recommend it to my families and friends.

Good Tourist Spot
Cruz Nov 25, 2008
This is a good palce to stay for tourism, but I traveled for business this time. Hotel is not business travel oriented, but ... location right on the ocean and very close to town is veri desirable. Staff was great. Excellent service at restaurant and bars as well as front desk. Hotel needs reovation in the rooms and public areas pretty soon. But I talked to people that are repeat customers and were very pleased.

Comfy yes, visitor friendly no
H Nov 3, 2008
My experience with Sunset Grande Jamaica was one of friendly staff, comfortable room with possible a great view in every ... room. There was a variety of food choices and amenities, as well as activities. That said, do not invite anyone who is not a guess of the hotel to visit you. They are not allowed in the lobby or even near the entrance. This a separate location away from the hotel, so family and friends feel less than accepted here. I was very disappointed with their policy on visitors.

In Need of Remodeling
Kevin Jul 9, 2008
The Jamaica Grande has a great location. However the hotel is in serious need of remodeling. The rooms have not been ... remodeled in quite sometime. The hotel staff was somewhat apathetic and did not pay attention to detail. We had to have the room key programmed several times which was no fun. There have been some changes in the rules which seemed not to benefit guests.

Great Resort for Fun
Ricardo Feb 20, 2008
This hotel is minutes from the pier, so all of the cruise ships are visible from the oceanview rooms. The resort is very ... clean. The staff extremely friendly and corteous. The food was delicious and there were plenty of dinning options, from Italian to Jamaican cusines. The resort rivals the cruises ship experiences that I have had. The only dissapointing aspect of this resort was the check-in process. It was very long, however the check-out was smooth and efficient. I give this hotel a 8.5 out of 10.

The resort has plenty of water activities from non-motorized to motorized. Everything is in walking distance. Shuttles to Margaritaville are also a plus.
