GEDi Access

The GED system is now accessed via a web browser. The old mainframe system (3 character username) is inactive.

Not everyone is allowed access to GED data. Our legal departments has restricted access to the GED application to the following governmental entities.  Your are employed at a(n)...

A. GED Testing Center (click here on how to submit for access to GED data)

B. ISD or ESC and you need access to GED data (click here to learn how to request access to GED data)

C. Adult Basic Education Center (click here to learn how to request access to GED data)

D. Probation and Parole and need access to GED data (click here to learn how to request access to GED data)

E. You need to verify that a person has a GED Certificate issued by the state of Texas (click here)

A. GED Testing Center Request for GED Access

If you work at a Test Center as the Chief Examiner, staff or in accounting you can/should request access to the GEDi system.

Do you have an existing TEA SE account? (*note: the old 3 character Username is not a TEA SE Username)

   No, you need a new account - Request New Account(click here)
   Yes, you have a TEA SE Username and you need to add GED access. Log on to TEA SE(click here)

• At the upper right hand corner of the screen click on the [Add/Modify Application Access] button
• then select General Education Development from the Select Application drop down menu.

IMPORTANT: You will need your CenterID and Organization Number, which is NOT your GEDTS number. It is a six character alphabetic code. You can determine your code by clicking on this Test Center link. Find your Test Center by City and to the right of the name is the six character "CenterID/Organization Number" code.

NOTE: Even if you work at an ISD or ESC, your Organization Type needs to be GED Test Center.

Your Chief Examiner will have to approve you before staff at TEA can make the final approval.
• An email will be sent to the Chief Examiner to "Submit a request for approval".
• Once the Chief Examiner has made the approval, then TEA can make the final approval.
• An email will be sent approving or denying the application.

Chief Examiner
You should send an email: ged@tea.state.tx.us requesting "Admin" rights to approve your staff at your Testing Center.

B. ISD or ESC Request for GED Access

A Memorandum of Understanding between TEA and ESCs and ISDs is in place for leaver recovery. If you work
for an ESC or ISD and need access to GED data, it is a two stage process.

  1. Apply for online access through TEA SE.
    1. If you do not have a TEA SE account (click here)
    2. If you have a TEA SE account, log onto TEA SE (click here).
      • At the upper right hand corner of the screen click on the [Add/Modify Application Access] button;
      • then select General Education Development from the Select Application drop down menu.
  2. NOTE: Your Organization Type needs to be District or Education Service Center; not GED Test Center.

  3. You will need to Fax in a completed application (click here)

Your District Superintendent will have to approve you before staff at TEA can make the final approval.
  • An email will be sent to your District Superintendent to "Submit a request for approval".
  • Once the Superintendent makes the approval, then TEA can make the final approval.
  • An email will be sent approving or denying the application.

REMEMBER You need to send in a FAX request and apply online before TEA can give final approval!

C. Adult Basic Education Request for GED Access

Adult Basic Education centers who are part of an ISD or ESC, accredited institution of higher learning such as colleges and universities, or are affiliated with Texas Learns will now be allowed access to GED data. If you would like to request access, it is a two stage process.

  1. Apply for online access through TEA SE.
    1. If you do not have a TEA SE account (click here)
    2. If you have a TEA SE account, log onto TEA SE (click here).
      • At the upper right hand corner of the screen click on the [Add/Modify Application Access] button;
      • then select General Education Development from the Select Application drop down menu.
  2. NOTE: Your Organization Type is not a GED Test Center and your Job Title is not GED Staff.

  3. You will, also, need to Fax in a completed application (click here)

You should apply online then send in your FAX request for optimal service.

REMEMBER You need to send in a FAX request and apply online before TEA can give final approval!

D. Probation or Parole Request for GED Access

Some people working in Probation and Parole will now be allowed GED access. If you would like to request access to GED data, it is a two stage process.

  1. Apply for online access through TEA SE.
    1. If you do not have a TEA SE account (click here)
    2. If you have a TEA SE account, log onto TEA SE (click here).
      • At the upper right hand corner of the screen click on the [Add/Modify Application Access] button;
      • then select General Education Development from the Select Application drop down menu.
  2. NOTE: Your Organization Type is not a GED Test Center and your Job Title is not GED Staff.

  3. You will need to Fax in a completed application (click here)

You should apply online then send in your FAX request for optimal service.

REMEMBER You need to send in a FAX request and apply online before TEA can give final approval!

Go to the TEA SE log on screen (click here).
