Sookie Stackhouse is a mind reading virgin, who falls in love with the vampire Bill. Much miss fortune falls on Sookie as co-workers and her grandmother are murdered. Sookie's brother Jason is in the middle of the investigation. Jason finds love in a vampire blood junkie/ hippy. Bill assist Sookie in the search for the kill, but her mind reading powers get them in more trouble than help as they go to a vampire bar to ask a few questions. Bill kills another vampire, who Sookie has disclosed was stealing money from the bar. Bill is then taken to vampire court and is sentenced to turn a innocent (seeming) girl into a vampire. Much to everyone surprise she is a blood hungary little brat!
