In the Spore universe, the planet Earth is an Easter egg. Earth, along with other planets from the real life Solar system, can be found in the game. Once a player finds Earth, they are rewarded the "Manifest Destiny" Achievement. If a player chooses to destroy Earth with the Planet Buster, they will also achieve the "Oh the Humanity!" achievement.
If you want to colonize the planet, it seems like only place to build a city without mutilating the terrain too much is Russia or Antarctica, Although there have been reports of very low or no terrain manipulation if placed in Africa from some gamers. Earth is a yellow spice planet.
[edit] Colonizing Earth
It is highly suggested that before you depart your home system, to buy lots of Bio-Protectors, and Uber turrets in case you want to colonize all of Sol. Make sure to ally with empires near Sol so they don't attack. If you don't feel comfortable with the other empires, destroy them.
Strangely, Earth turns a Brown-red when it becomes T3. This may conclude that Earth is, right now, at a T1 level, and that when humans cause global warming, will decrease the atmosphere with other pollutants, causing the change from green to brown. Meaning that it is a reference to how Humans are damaging their environment, decreasing the beauty of Planet Earth.
In addition, when the atmosphere is increased to make Earth T0, many of Earth's continents (including South America, parts of North America, much of Europe, and Australia) become flooded, another reference to global warming. The only way to make Earth T3 without flooding it is to use the Staff of Life.
