so they named the new james bond.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819

in all honestly, i could care less about the "new james bond movie," but what peaked my interest was this little blurb about craig's naming

Quote:
The Name's Craig, Daniel Craig

The producers of the James Bond movies confirmed today (Friday) that they had chosen 37-year-old Daniel Craig to be the next 007 -- out of some 200 actors around the world -- and had signed him to a three-film contract. The relatively unknown actor told a London news conference, "It's a huge challenge. Life is about challenges and this is one of the big ones as an actor." Earlier in the year he had expressed misgivings about the script for Casino Royale, which is due to begin filming in January, saying that if he were offered the role he'd want "the emotional level" of the script to change, "but I don't know how ready they'd be to change." At today's news conference, Craig said that he wanted to take the Bond movie "somewhere maybe where it's never gone before." He did not elaborate, but director Martin Campbell remarked that the film will be "a bi(t) darker" with "more character, less gadgets." He added: "This will be tougher and grittier, and there's a terrific part for the girl and the relationship Bond has with the girl is probably a much more serious one than we've had in the past."

well... is this batman begins 2 or what?

Isn't he the first Blonde Bond? I've never seen a Bond movie before, and still probably wont once this "darker, grittier" bond comes out. Did darker and grittier become the new wave? Or did I just now starting paying attention to it?

I've lost my mind, and I really don't feel like finding it..

Vh1's show 'Best Week Ever' said he had the best week ever because not only was he the one who supposedly broke up Jude Law's and Whose-that-chick? relationship, but he also because of this being named the next Bond. Thought you all should know that.

Angelina Jolie is going to be the next Bond Girl isn´t she? I always thought Bond girls are there to disappeare since until 1998 noone ever saw a Bond Appendix in a leading role again...

The makers of the movie wants Jolie to play the bond girl, if she is asked to do it, I don't know.

Well, I love Goldeneye and it´s the last Bond that really entertained me.
Campbell managed to introduce Bond properly but then the other 3 Brosnan movies, Bond became more and more an unwilling parody of himself, (and not in a good way like Moore´s Bond Performances)
I like Bond a lot and hope Casino Royale will be kind of Bnd Begins to this overladen franchise!

Is it really supposed to be a "prequel" to Dr. No or generally Bond movies?

Noone knows yet, Casino Royale was the first Bond book ever published and speculations about the nature of this project (wether sequel, prequel or revamp) remain various.
Yet, since at "least" Dame Judi Dench reprises her role as M, I´m pretty confident, that it is a sequel.
But it doesn´t matter much since the Bond Franchise of rather loose bondings to continuity.
