"We read the reviews and order a wider size. When my husband complained they were too narrow, I couldn't believe, and tried them on myself. They are fairly narrow even in the widest size and really the whole shoe was not comfortable - surprising for a New Balance Shoe."

"These are the most comfortable and well supporting shoes I've ever purchased. While other shoes give me leg and foot pain, these give me no sign of pain whatsoever. Great value and great price considering what a quality show you are getting.
I bought these at the Flagship store in Freeport which is a shopper's delight. Great customer service....little waiting time in lines even when crowded."

"I have ordered many different pairs of shoes from LL Bean and never had any problems, up until now. New Balance needs to seriously reconsider their sizing measurements. These shoes are much narrower than the size might indicate. I am not sure how comfortable these shoes will be, but if you choose to order these, go one size larger than you normally would."

"My hubby has had these shoes for a year--wearing them nearly daily. He's pleased with the arch support although with the vigorous use they've received the support is not as "perky" as it was when first purchased (which is why we are buying a second pair today). He really should be wearing prescription orthotics, but these shoes have allowed us to delay that pricey investment. I've noticed that he hasn't complained about his plantar fasciitis since he started wearing them. He originally purchased them based on the recommendation of his podiatrist. Aestheically, they've held up nicely. They do tend to be rough on the shoe laces, though. The metal brackets just chew them up! He's on his 4th set of laces since he bought them"

"I bought two previous pairs of New Balance country walker shoes in past years, which were great. But this new model is way too narrow for me. I kept trying larger sizes and of course the wide width EE, but New Balance has made these way narrower than their old shoes. I am disappointed."

"I needed a pair of casual brown shoes, to wear with jeans and khakis. I already wear New Balance for tennis. I knew I could order these in the same size and they would fit. I have trouble finding the proper shoes because I wear EEEE. These fit great and the look is just right for what I needed."

"Seems to be well crafted shoe, time will tell in the long run how long they last. Do quite a bit of walking on the job so like the spring to the step, a good sole that supports. So far have built up the leg muscles using this shoe, feels a natural fit."

"This is one of the best all around shoes that I have had the pleasure to use. I have 2 pairs, one for work where it fits my mid level industrial management position and the other for hiking nd backpacking on flat to fairly hilly and rough terrain. I have hit the Appalacian Trail more than once in these shoes. They are durable, comfortable and provide good impact resistance on rough trails. The size is perfect. Not many companies make a 4EEE walker/hiker for those of us blessed with big feet. Walk on Brother."

"I am an avid New Balance shoe fan. I find their fit and finish to be excellent. My last pair was the Walkers 748, an Outstanding choice for fit and comfort! Unfortunatly, this model has been discontinued and replaced with the 749. This new model (Country Walkers 749) has the expected 'Excellent' workmanship from a New Balance shoe. The only flaw I found is in the sizing. I wear a man's 11.5 Extra Wide, and I expected the same comfortable fit with the 749 that I had with the 748: but, this was not the case. The Extra Wide size was equivalent to a normal D width. Excellent shoe, but, an update to the companies 'sizing' measurements needs to be made."

"I love New Balance sneakers so this was no surprise that I lovced these shoes I walk 3 miles every day and needed a walking type shoe these shoes are very light weight yet offer lots of support the sizes are accurate and the EE width is perfect for me I put an additional insole in for extra comfort but thats just me would reorder these in a heart beat they are well worth the price I recommend them to any intermediate or above walker you wont be sorry"

"This is by far the worst product I have ever purchased from LL Bean. Having purchased Country Walkers on two previous occasions, I was bitterly disappointed. My old walkers were as comfortable as slippers. There must be a new supplier (my previous pairs were 748's) to New Balance. My goodness! I walk 6 to 8 miles a day, and I have now walked between 3 and 4 hundred miles in these shoes. I have developed blisters on all ten toes, including three on each of my big toes. There is a metal or fiberglass ridge across the top of the shoes that rubs on top of your large toe, causing extreme discomfort as the shoe creases while walking. The shoe wears on the outside edge of your small toes, also, though I get the widest shoe possible. The show is very stiff and never really "breaks in." Avoid at all costs."
