Another area that surprised me with iClones is the lack of fight motion presets, or really, any valuable range of motion presets to make a full movie - dancing is not really that great for moving making. Reallusion must understand that many of us use other machinima tools such as The Movies. The Movies has a huge list of presets as a video game not originally designed for strict machinima; however, even though it's been out for quite some time, it still has a huge following.

I wish the development team would consider iClones as a machinima movie making tool their primary goal.

Action Motion Presets that should be standard for a tool designed to make machinima requires preset animations for drama, action, horror, sci-fi, and at least comedy. They should be split into such categories. Someone at Reallusion, please go view the motion presets for The Movies and make some additions to 3.0!

Thanks for putting forward your suggestions. The views of its users is very important to Reallusion.

I'm not sure if you are using the Studio version but in that you have the Motion Editor for creating any animations you like, and you can also modify the other motions that are available. This makes it possible to achieve exactly the motion you require where a preset may not.

Also in the Content Store there are many, many fighting motions and general movement motions that cover most uses. Sure there is always room for more so letting know your requirements is a great way to influence future packs.

Thanks for taking the time to share your wishful features.

You are kidding right?

How can you compare "The Movies" to "iClone"?

"The Movies" is a game, a micro management game first, a film making tool second. It has probably one of the worst designed editors I have ever had the mis-pleasure of using and if it wasn't for the dedicated fans, it would have been forgotten years ago. Lionhead gave up on it some time ago and now Microsoft look to have no plans for it.

You cannot change the animations (Motion Presets) with ease in "The movies", unless you have a degree in coding and tons of time on your hands. If it wasn't for people like Derobrash making editors and the other modders at DCMF, you wouldn't have what you have to day. "The Movies" owes those people a debt.

"iClone" has far more to offer then a lack of motions, like proper camera control, control of lighting, far more stable platform, etc, etc.

If you want to hear my views of "iClone" v "The Movies" then listen to me on TMOA 16th March 2008 talking about this very subject.

You make a lot of good points; however, I can easily point out that you can waste hours upon hours of time making the right moves with motion editor - maybe that's why we have to pay for fighting and other action presets???

iClones is billed as a moving making tool, so let's see the movies? Yes, you've reiterated the fact that I stated with The Movies being a secondary machinima tool, but really, for Machinima film makers, it IS a primary tool and many users do not play the game, such as myself - we use it strictly for machinima. In fact, isn't it a stretch to say that there are any "primary" Machinima making software, since nearly everything we see within the machnima genre is made from a "game."

n fact, when you go to the most popular machinima website, machinima.com, could your point be validated by the fact that there are tons of iClones movies and very few The Movies, movies? The answer is clearly no, because iClones just hasn't caught on for many, many reasons. Presets is one of them, I'm sure - why would a film maker want dancing presents as opposed to fighting or a broader set of action scene presets?? Really, explain that one too me!

I wasn't attempting to compare The Movies to iClones because you can't. The Movies wins hands down, even if it is old and hasn't been updated since Stunts and Effects. Goto http://community.lionhead.com/forums/21/ShowForum.aspx and check the forums and compare them to here or coolclones. Their forum is VERY active and people are very open to creative ideas and building any work-arounds necessary to be able to make movies.

iClones could easily build that type of cult following if they adjusted their product strategy. I noticed on the 3.0 update list that exporting iclones to third party software is still a big question mark - huge mistake in my opinion. Why wouldn't you want that?? There are a lot of complementary products out there that would greatly enhance the iClones experience, which would open the product up to a larger marketing audience.

Again, you make good points, and I agree that iClones and software like iClones will be the future, but I have found a fairly equal level of user's posting the pros and cons on this site and coolclones.

Ok, So I checked out part one, fast forwarded a bit, and turned it off. Honestly, who in the world listens to something like that??? Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. This isn't to say that your views are bad - it really has nothing to do with that at all, it's just that the podcast was terrible - sound, music, noise. And the fact that there seemed to be hours and hours of it??

It seems as though you want me to hear your voice by posting the link. Please, post the cliff notes and save us from the travesty that link takes us to.

Thanks again. You seem to be a swell guy.

We could debate this for days, but I’m not going to get drawn into it and this is not the place to do it (Take from that whatever you like)

I used “The Movies” to make a 1 hour film, it had over 10,000 views, so I know the software as I began using it the day it came out in November 2005 and I was an active member of the forums even before this.

You also make some valid points, but with “Moviestorm” and “3D Antics” also out there, I have made my choice and I’m happy with it.

TMOA is the foundation of that active community over there; I’m surprised, as such an avid community member you have never listened?

But as I stressed earlier I’m not going to be drawn into any kind of discussion on the matter.

We will agree to disagree.

All the best

Again, you're misunderstanding my post. I never claim to be an avid community member; however, it is clear that the community there is much stronger and much, much larger than here or any other iClones forum.

I'm simply weighing the pros and cons of iClones and using facts to emphasize them.
